Laura Sirpilla Bosworth
It's been a few months since we wrapped up our employee spotlights... but we are missing one vital employee.... Laura! Many of you have probably known Laura for years... some of you might not know who the "Laura" of Pembroke is! Find out a little more about the woman who started it all!
What is your role at Laura of Pembroke?
Co owner. I was newly married when we opened the clothing portion of our business with my Mother and Father, our original partners. My Brother and Sister in law, Susan, joined us 10 yeas later and suggested that we included home furnishings... the best advise.
Our daughter, Lauren, joined us three years ago. We now have computers. Just kidding! She's added many layers to our business. She's very talented. I'm still trying to be as tech savvy as I need to be. Both of our children insist I stay current with technology... That's what we get for paying for good educations...
Before working at Laura of Pembroke, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
After graduating from Wittenberg University, I worked in New York City, in the clothing industry as a clothing rep, while I attended Parsons School of Design in the evenings
If you could switch your job with anyone else within LOP, whose job would you want?
As my mother taught me everything I know about design, I absolutely love my career and I am humbled by it. I don't want to switch... Do I have to? :)
How many years have you worked at LOP?
We are walking into 30 years. Actually, I'm crawling, because I lift too many heavy items
What is your all time favorite LOP purchase?
The furniture and accessories in our home. This sets the tone of everyday, and I smile
Best vacation you’ve been to?
The architecture in Europe is breathtaking, by far our favorite memories. We love small boutique hotels, and traveling off season, so we can go more often. Very fortunate our children love to join us.
Favorite Book?
I fall asleep when I read. So, basically they are all my favorite bedtime stories.
